Even in pouring rain, anti-fascist and local initiatives as well as numerous residents of Hohenschönhausen gathered at the rally. They had come to protest against a neo-Nazi clique that has been carrying out arson attacks on residential buildings in the neighborhood for a year and a half for racist reasons. The rally was viewed critically by a large group of plainclothes officers from the Berlin LKA, among others. Even in times of racist attacks, for police authorities the enemy seems to be on the left. “It’s already burned several times at my place,” reports a resident, personal belongings in the basement have also come to harm. Other residents stand by and nod. Most of them live near Prerower Platz, but a few people from Alt-Hohenschönhausen have also come. They are angry about all the damage that has been done to their homes and would like to see reactions from property managers and politicians. Ultimately, the costs caused by the fires would be passed on to the tenants. This upsets many.

An interview by Lothar Bassermann. Originally published in german language on jungewelt.de
Note: Due to character limitations, not all points are listed in as much detail as they should be.
In the Berlin district of Neu-Hohenschönhausen, there have been around 20 fires in an apparent series since the beginning of 2022. The police investigation also led to Leon Suslik, a 20-year-old neo-Nazi. What is known about this to your group, which is also following the proceedings in the regional court, which have been ongoing since May 9?
So far we know that there have been regular arson attacks on residential buildings and youth clubs in the last 18 months. Mostly it is cellars or – especially in the case of youth clubs – garbage containers that are torched. The police had noted a serious arson on October 9, 2022, which they say belongs to the “right-wing phenomenon area.”
What happened then?
The targets were refugees in a residential building on Zingster Straße. Four suspects, including Leon Suslik, were identified. Suslik, who is accused of involvement in various fires, is also alleged to have left racist letters of threat at the crime scenes or in their surroundings. On December 30, 2022, house searches were carried out in Berlin and NRW. Since then, Suslik has also been in custody. As it became clear in court on Tuesday, the reason for the raids was the threat of an attack on a refugee camp, which police claim to have learned about from the defendants’ telecommunications surveillance.

Film screening and discussion with director Antonia Killian
The Antifascist Network Lichtenberg cordially invites you to a joint film evening at Hubertusbad. With mulled wine, cold drinks and snacks we want to be inspired and impressed by the story of (during the shooting) 19-year-old Hala. The protagonist flees from IS as well as her family to escape a forced marriage and joins the Kurdish defense units. During her training, she is inspired by the promise to liberate all women and militantly defend feminism.
Following the film, there will be an opportunity to ask questions to filmmaker and director Antonia Killian.
The event will take place on 01.12. from 8 pm at Hubertusbad in Lichtenberg (Hubertusstraße 47-49, U Madgalenenstraße).
Please come tested.
We are looking forward to seeing you.
Lichtenberg Neighborhood Meeting
Against rising prices and rents.
For better living conditions for all!
Everything is getting more expensive. Not only the ever-increasing rents, but now also the exploding ancillary costs make living almost unaffordable. Food is also becoming more and more expensive and healthy food could soon become a rare luxury for many people.
We therefore invite all people from Lichtenberg to a neighborhood meeting. There we want to get to know each other, exchange ideas about the problems we are currently facing in our everyday lives and strengthen ourselves together.
There will be coffee, tea and cake. Child care will be provided. The room is barrier-free.
Sunday 6.11. from 3 p.m. at Hubertusbad
Hubertusstr. 47-49, 10365 Berlin, near U-Bhf Magdalenenstraße
*Neo-Nazis and conspiracy ideologues, as well as their contents are unwanted and will be excluded from the event! We oppose the right-wing appropriation of social struggles.

Female Resistance Lichtenberg #2
The anti-fascist resistance in Lichtenberg would have been impossible without the commitment of numerous women. They courageously stood up to fascism. Often they are pushed into the background during the commemoration. We want to remember them and their deeds on 19.06 from 16 o’clock.
We invite you to the neighborhood walk through Alt-Lichtenberg, which will start at the Berliner Konsumgenossenschaft in Joseph-Orlopp-Str. 36.
Antifascist commemoration of Klaus-Dieter Reichert
In the night from December 10 to 11, 1990, Klaus-Dieter Reichert died at the age of 24 in Berlin-Lichtenberg. In the apartment of acquaintances, he is threatened and brutally beaten up by several right-wing skinheads. In panic, he let himself fall from a window on the tenth floor of a high-rise building. After the fall, the perpetrators left the seriously injured Reichert lying in front of the building. He dies there shortly afterwards. The death of Klaus-Dieter Reichert poses many mysteries. Despite everything, it is clear to us that he is a victim of extreme right-wing violence. We want to remember his fate, even though he has not yet appeared in any official victim statistics. Neo-Nazi violence has many faces. We must not forget its victims!

Rally: AfD out of the parliaments
Thu. 9.12. from 4pm in front of the BVV in Lichtenberg (Max-Taut-Aula at S Nöldnerplatz).
After we already stood last month before the BVV we are this time again there. It can be assumed that at the upcoming BVV the city council positions will be elected. Also the AfD may put one up for election, but nothing else than a clear “No” is acceptable, no matter who they dig out this time, no matter how many rounds of elections there already were or will be! We demand the same from the democratic parties in the new BVV:
Against the normalization of the AfD, against city council positions for the new fascists, against any cooperation with the AfD!
Note: The meeting of the BVV afterwards is public, but due to the 3G rule connected with a personal check.

In memory of Eugeniu Botnari and Kurt Schneider – Anti-fascist commemoration in Lichtenberg
An antifascist neighborhood needs an antifascist culture of remembrance. That is what we are demonstrating for. We want to remember the victims of right-wing violence in Lichtenberg. Eugeniu Botnari and Kurt Schneider are two people we remember as representatives of unknown victims of right-wing violence. Unfortunately, their names are also unknown to many people in the neighborhood. We have to change that. We are committed to making their fates visible in the district. We demand places of remembrance that show the deadly consequences of right-wing ideas every day. Let’s fight together for these places and a neighborhood in solidarity.
Female Resistance Lichtenberg
The anti-fascist resistance in Lichtenberg would have been impossible without the commitment of numerous women. They courageously stood up to fascism. Often they are pushed into the background during the commemoration. We want to remember them and their deeds on 07.08 from 15 clock.
Together with comrades of the VVN-BdA Lichtenberg, we, the Antifascist Network Lichtenberg (AVL), invite you to the neighborhood walk through the Lichtenberger Kaskelkiez, which starts at the place of the Red Chapel (Schulze-Boysen-Straße 12).
Disclaimer: The binary gender representation is a consequence of historiography. Also queer antifascists must not be forgotten, we are just not aware of any representatives in the context of our district.
